Football Recap: Santa Barbara Comes Up Short

Santa Barbara lost against Oxnard back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dons lost to the Yellowjackets at home by a 38-19 margin. While losing is never fun, the Dons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 44th).

Santa Barbara has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Oxnard, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Barbara will venture away from home to take on San Marcos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Royals' defense has only allowed 5.3 points per game this season, so the Dons' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Oxnard, they will head out to square off against Ventura at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
