Basketball Preview: Bronson Eagles vs. Trenton Tigers
Bronson hasn't had much luck against Trenton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bronson Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Trenton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Bronson focused on turnovers this week as the team gave up 19 on Friday.
Having struggled with 18 losses in a row dating back to last season, Bronson finally turned things around against Riverside Christian on Friday. They walked away with a 63-53 victory over the Wranglers. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their 23-point performance the match before.
Bronson found their leader in sophomore Andrea Schuler, who posted 34 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Schuler a new career-high in offensive rebounds (three). Madison Dean was another key player, earning eight points in addition to three steals.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Trenton over Madison County in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Trenton blew Madison County out of the water with a 70-43 final score. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Nyima Gillyard had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayley Sloan, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points.
Trenton was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison County only racked up ten.
Trenton's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Bronson, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.
