Basketball Recap: Morgan Township Comes Up Short

Morgan Township lost against Marquette Catholic back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Morgan Township Cherokees were beaten by the Marquette Catholic Blazers 54-22. The matchup marked the Cherokees' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Marquette Catholic was led to victory by Cole Dobre and Nate Bakota. Dobre dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards, while Bakota posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Dobre is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Josiah Mays was another key player, putting up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Morgan Township and nudges their season record down to 4-11. As for Marquette Catholic, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 4-8 record.

Morgan Township didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-37 loss against Hanover Central on the 31st. Marquette Catholic has also already played their next matchup, a 73-49 defeat against Andrean on the 1st.
