Basketball Recap: Early County Takes a Loss

Early County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were dealt a 55-16 defeat at the hands of the Macon County Bulldogs. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Early County got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Lailah Means and Kalee Graham, who each put up four points. Bernycia Haynes held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

As for Macon County, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points on average over those games.

Morgan Cochran went supernova, dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Aniah Lake was another key player, shooting 45% from the field en route to 12 points.

Early County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 74-16 win against Quitman County on the 2nd. Macon County has also already played their next contest (against Wilcox County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
