Basketball Game Preview: Atlantic Shores Christian Seahawks vs. Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs

The Atlantic Shores Christian Seahawks will take on the Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Atlantic Shores Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Southern Maryland Christian Academy likes a good challenge.

Atlantic Shores Christian proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 35) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 victory over Norfolk Academy. Give the Seahawks' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Southern Maryland Christian Academy came up short against Our Lady of Good Counsel on Tuesday, falling 78-58.

Atlantic Shores Christian will need to focus on slowing down Aaron McGlone, one of several Southern Maryland Christian Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8-for-19 to rack up 17 points and four steals. McGlone's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Zeyere Thompson, who posted 15 points.

Atlantic Shores Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. As for Southern Maryland Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Atlantic Shores Christian strolled past Southern Maryland Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 70-53. Will the Seahawks repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
