Basketball Recap: Stafford Trojans vs. South Barber Chieftains
The Stafford Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 54-29 defeat at the hands of South Barber. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stafford in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Stafford still got an impressive performance from Ines Garcia, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Garcia continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor Denio was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Stafford dropped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.1 points per game. As for South Barber, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season.
Stafford will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norwich will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for South Barber, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Pretty Prairie and the Chieftains are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
