Basketball Game Preview: Fieldcrest Knights vs. Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts

The Fieldcrest Knights will head out to square off against the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Fieldcrest beat Roanoke-Benson 52-41.

Fieldcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Macy Gochanour, who posted 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Gochanour is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was TeriLynn Timmerman, who had 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Fieldcrest was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Illinois Valley Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Farmington, posting a 69-31 victory. The Grey Ghosts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 28 points or more this season.

Fieldcrest's record now sits at 4-2. As for Illinois Valley Central, their record is now 4-1.

Fieldcrest ended up a good deal behind Illinois Valley Central when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 64-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Grey Ghosts' Anna Foster, who put up 20 points and eight boards.
