Softball Recap: Venice Wins Going Away Against University

Venice came out on top against University on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run first inning. The Gondoliers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 18-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Gondoliers, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Sandy Carrera, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Cunningham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one double.

Venice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University only posted an OBP of .318.

Venice's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for University, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Venice will take on La Canada at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for University, they will welcome Hamilton at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
