Basketball Recap: IDEA Weslaco Pike's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

IDEA Weslaco Pike needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Aaron Leos. The IDEA Weslaco Pike Mavericks came out on top against the IDEA Robindale Aviators by a score of 48-36 on Tuesday thanks in part to Leos, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards.

The team also got some help courtesy of Louie Gutierrez, who posted five points in addition to five assists and four steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 19 times he's played.

IDEA Weslaco Pike's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14. As for IDEA Robindale, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IDEA Weslaco Pike has already played their next game (against IDEA Riverview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. IDEA Robindale will head out on the road to face off against IDEA Frontier College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
