It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Monticello had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They never let the Alleghany Cougars get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Considering Monticello have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Their offense was hitting Alleghany from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Clyde Jones led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.
Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 10-6-2. As for Alleghany, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Looking ahead, Monticello will face off against Turner Ashby at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alleghany does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
