Baseball Game Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Durango Trailblazers

For the second straight game, Valley will face off against Durango. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Trailblazers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with seven straight defeats, while Durango will come in with five straight wins.

Monday just wasn't the day for Valley's offense. They lost 17-0 to Durango on Monday.

For Durango's part, Teagan Payne was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Payne has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Durango got a big performance out of Jayden Shuford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Shuford has posted over his last nine matches. Another player making a difference was Jon Turner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Durango always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Durango, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
