Football Recap: Gulf Coast Skates Past Palmetto Ridge with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gulf Coast). They claimed a resounding 63-0 victory over the Palmetto Ridge Bears. The win continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Gio Marenco and Javien Altine. Marenco rushed for 176 yards and three scores on only six carries while Altine rushed for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. Altine's longest rush was for an incredible 92 yards. Another player making a difference was Isaac Garcia, who gained 37 total yards and two touchdowns.

Gulf Coast was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 508 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 201 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Gulf Coast's record now sits at 4-2. As for Palmetto Ridge, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Gulf Coast will take on Barron Collier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sharks will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Palmetto Ridge, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Immokalee at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
