Baseball Recap: Clayton Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Clayton had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Jemez Valley Warrior by a score of 16-15 on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Sammy Montoya stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Oulette, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clayton beat Jemez Valley by a score of 15-5 later that day.
