Basketball Game Preview: Lakeville South Cougars vs. Prior Lake Lakers

The Lakeville South Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Prior Lake Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeville South knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matches -- so hopefully Prior Lake likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lakeville South took on Farmington on Tuesday. Lakeville South came out on top against Farmington by a score of 84-75.

Prior Lake has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-65 heartbreaker at the hands of Rosemount. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lakers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Irish are ranked 111th).

Lakeville South's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Prior Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.

Lakeville South didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Prior Lake in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 56-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeville South since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
