Football Recap: Jonah Crichton Key Part of Team Effort in Trojans Win + How To Watch

Petaluma's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down the Maria Carrillo Pumas 35-21. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Petaluma's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jonah Crichton, who rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. The Trojans also got a significant boost from Brody Stevens, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Petaluma was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 312 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maria Carrillo only rushed for 114 rushing yards.

Petaluma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Curt Mertens and William Hale. Petaluma got some further help from Beck Geiser: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles.

Despite the loss, Maria Carrillo still got an impressive performance from Estefan Ramirez, who rushed for 82 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Petaluma's record now sits at 3-1. As for Maria Carrillo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Petaluma will face off against Redwood at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The match will give the Trojans their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Maria Carrillo, they will square off against Milpitas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
