Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Colonial Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask First Baptist Academy). They put the hurt on the Colonial Christian Patriots with a sharp 70-45 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lions have posted since January 9, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Colonial Christian lost, don't look at Christian Valino. Despite the final result, he en route to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Valino's big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Alexander Ovalle, who posted eight points and ten boards.

The victory made it two in a row for First Baptist Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-8. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-12 Colonial Christian and 4-13 Colonial Christian. As for Colonial Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

First Baptist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Colonial Christian, they have already played their next match, a 78-44 win against Varsity Opponent on the 25th.
