Basketball Game Preview: Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers vs. Delaware County Christian Knights

The Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers will head out to face off against the Delaware County Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Marple Newtown has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Thursday, Marple Newtown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 70-65 to Springfield. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Fightin' Tigers still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Delaware County Christian came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged Pope John Paul II out 79-76. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since December 27, 2024.

Delaware County Christian's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.0 points per game. As for Marple Newtown, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Marple Newtown came up short against Delaware County Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 53-40. Can Marple Newtown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
