IC Catholic Prep has gone a perfect 6-0 against Trinity recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will look to defend their home field against the Blazers at 4:30 p.m. IC Catholic Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
On Monday, IC Catholic Prep needed a bit of extra time to put away DePaul College Prep. They skirted past the Rams 8-6.
Leilani Mendez spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lexi Russ and Sofia Bucaro did most of the damage at the plate: Russ got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Bucaro went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Bucaro is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ariani Zito, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Trinity's offense. They lost 20-0 to Saint Ignatius College Prep on Thursday. The Blazers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Trinity saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Young, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Young has hit this season.
Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for IC Catholic Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Trinity's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: IC Catholic Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Trinity, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given IC Catholic Prep's sizable advantage in that area, the Blazers will need to find a way to close that gap.
IC Catholic Prep got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Trinity by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Blazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
