Basketball Recap: West Lafayette Falls Despite Big Games from Molly Andrew and Amaya St. Hilaire

West Lafayette was the 63-44 winner over Hamilton Heights when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The West Lafayette Red Devils fell just short of the Hamilton Heights Huskies by a score of 41-39 on Saturday.

West Lafayette's loss came despite strong showings from Amaya St. Hilaire and Molly Andrew. St. Hilaire posted six points in addition to 12 boards and three blocks, while Andrew had nine points and six rebounds. St. Hilaire has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sinceritie Love, who put up five points.

Even though they lost, West Lafayette smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Hamilton Heights was led to victory by Katie Brown and Presley Cherry. Brown posted 11 points in addition to six assists and five boards, while Cherry had 14 points.

West Lafayette dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Hamilton Heights, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.

West Lafayette wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 41-27 defeat against North Montgomery on the 17th. As for Hamilton Heights, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-37 loss against Kokomo on the 17th.
