After only two runs in their last matchup, Farmington made sure to put some runs up on the board against Canton on Tuesday. The Farmers were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Little Giants. The Farmers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Bronson Atchley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Farmington got a massive performance out of Carter Lambin, who went 4-for-6 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave Lambin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Wilcoxen, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Farmington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canton only posted a batting average of .219.
Farmington's record is now 19-6. As for Canton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.
Farmington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Princeville on the 7th. As for Canton, they have also already played their next match, a 14-0 victory against Pekin on the 7th.
