Softball Game Preview: Garces Memorial Rams vs. Arroyo Grande Eagles

The Garces Memorial Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Arroyo Grande Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Garces Memorial is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Garces Memorial's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Orcutt Academy. While the Rams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The result came thanks to Jaiden Gutierrez's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izzy Frye, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Reese Bowles was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Arroyo Grande ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Righetti by a score of 7-2. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Adelana Rodriguez (2026) spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ella Stennett (2025) was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Olivas (2028), who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Garces Memorial's record now sits at 6-1. As for Arroyo Grande, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
