Tyler Wagner made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because NorthPoint Christian Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise. Wagner was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Powell Maslin was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
NorthPoint Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ambassador Christian School struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy entered their tilt with Gospel Light Christian on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let Gospel Light Christian get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Like NorthPoint Christian Academy, Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Kore Wallace. On the mound, Wallace tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Keegan Spach struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Wallace has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Wallace scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Spach went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Pickard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Sears, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
NorthPoint Christian Academy pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. NorthPoint Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
NorthPoint Christian Academy beat Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy 4-1 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the NightHawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
