Baseball Preview: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Tri-Valley Bears
The Eldred Yellowjackets will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Tri-Valley Bears at 4:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Monday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Eldred had to settle for an 8-7 defeat against Chapel Field Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eldred in their matchups with Chapel Field Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Josh Warming was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Warming has been consistent recently: he hasn't pitched less than six innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Warming was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jake Card was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Tri-Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 11-7 to Livingston Manor.
Austin Swett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Cangelosi, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Eldred's record now sits at 3-3. As for Tri-Valley, their record now sits at 0-3.
Eldred beat Tri-Valley 3-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eldred since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
