Basketball Preview: Barren County Trojans vs. Franklin-Simpson Wildcats
The Barren County Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Barren County won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. Their tough 88-68 defeat to Butler County might stick with them for a while. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), Barren County still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Franklin-Simpson earned a 68-55 victory over the Panthers on Friday. Given Franklin-Simpson's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Panthers are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Barren County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Franklin-Simpson, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Barren County came up short against the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 55-51. Can Barren County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
