Volleyball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Northwest Christian's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Northwest Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Thunderbird Titans. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Northwest Christian lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-23, 12-25, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Northwest Christian still got an impressive performance from Brooks Martin, who had 30 digs and two assists. Martin is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last four games he's played. Trace Martin also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.

Northwest Christian suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 14-7. As for Thunderbird, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Coming up, Northwest Christian will venture away from home to face off against Kingman at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Thunderbird, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Paradise Honors at 5:30 p.m.
