Soccer Game Preview: Seneca Valley vs. Canon-McMillan

The Seneca Valley Raiders will square off against the Canon-McMillan Big Macs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Seneca Valley sitting on six straight wins and Canon-McMillan on five.

Seneca Valley proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their defense stepped up to hand Mars a 1-0 shutout. Given Seneca Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked second, while Mars are ranked 89th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Canon-McMillan got the win against Hempfield Area on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-0. The result was nothing new for Canon-McMillan, who have now won nine matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Hempfield Area from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Cole Debbis led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Canon-McMillan's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Seneca Valley, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.

Seneca Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Canon-McMillan in their previous meeting back in October of 2018, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Big Macs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
