Charlie Turner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Charlotte Comer and Jaedin Mugleston did most of the damage at the plate: Comer went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Mugleston went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Comer has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allisson Robles, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Olympus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .485 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Brighton and Alta, and Brighton kept the tradition alive. The Bengals were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Hawks on Thursday. Considering the Bengals have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Alison Nikolaus made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). Nikolaus was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Fleckenstein, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Peyten Bowers was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
Olympus pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average this season. As for Brighton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Olympus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Olympus was able to grind out a solid win over Brighton in their previous meeting back in April, winning 5-1. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bengals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
