Basketball Recap: West Stanly Comes Up Short

West Stanly lost against Monroe back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Stanly Colts took an 82-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monroe Redhawks. The Colts were down 72-50 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Monroe found their leader in freshman Janiyah Boyd, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on her way to 53 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The contest was Boyd's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Dezire Hailey was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

West Stanly's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Monroe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

West Stanly will host Forest Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Hills will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something West Stanly surely won't give up without a fight. Monroe has already played their next match (against Anson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
