Holton typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Jefferson West proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Jefferson West got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 26-28, 25-21.

Addison Schwinn paced Jefferson West's offense, picking up 14 kills. Schwinn got some help from Harriet Dean and her 19 assists. Finally, Schwinn was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Despite the defeat, Holton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Faith Olberding had 15 assists and seven digs. Olberding has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Jefferson West's victory bumped their record up to 22-12. As for Holton, they moved to 29-9 with that loss, which also ended their eight-match winning streak.

Jefferson West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holton, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] on Monday.
