Baseball Recap: Parke Heritage Beats Fountain Central for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Parke Heritage barely beat Fountain Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 14-4 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Braydon Goodwin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Parke Heritage got a massive performance out of Lewie Woody, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Woody is becoming a predictor of the Wolves' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Renn Harper was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Parke Heritage lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Parke Heritage, bringing their record up to 13-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Fountain Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Parke Heritage will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fountain Central: the pair will be back at it again later today.
