Basketball Recap: Glenwood Springs Extends Winning Streak to Four

Glenwood Springs entered their tilt with Rifle on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Rifle Bears 54-30. Given the Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Bears are ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glenwood Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lyndsay Helms, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Helms a new career-high in rebounds. Rebecca Fuentes was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Glenwood Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Rifle lost, don't look at Jayden Hills. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 16 en route to 16 points and four steals.

Glenwood Springs is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Rifle, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Glenwood Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-45 win against Coal Ridge on the 23rd. As for Rifle, they will venture away from home to take on Steamboat Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rifle is facing Steamboat Springs at the right time seeing as Steamboat Springs is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
