Basketball Recap: Gage Mcmanus Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Richard Winn Academy

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Buford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They snuck past the Richard Winn Academy Eagles with a 55-51 victory.

Buford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage McManus out in front who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave McManus a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Milhorn, who posted 15 points and seven assists.

Richard Winn Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Charlie Bonds, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. Bonds is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Bennett Nicholson was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

The victory got Buford back to even at 2-2. As for Richard Winn Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buford will challenge Chester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Richard Winn Academy, they will square off against Anderson Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
