Baseball Recap: River Islands Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

River Islands had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Venture Academy Mustangs by a score of 9-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Daryl Carpenter, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Matthew Echivarre was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

River Islands hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Venture Academy struck out seven times.

River Islands' record now sits at 8-5. As for Venture Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, River Islands will look to defend their home field on Monday against Turlock Christian at 4:15 p.m. The Riptide's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Venture Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Argonaut at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
