Preview: Ord Chanticleers vs. Ravenna Bluejays
The Ord Chanticleers will head out on the road to square off against the Ravenna Bluejays at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Ord is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Ord came up short against O'Neill and fell 63-52. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ord in their matchups with O'Neill: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Ord had strong showings from Blake Hinrichs, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds, and Colton Thompson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Thompson scored 15 or more points.
Meanwhile, Ravenna scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Gibbon by a score of 70-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Ord has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Ravenna, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14.
Ord strolled past Ravenna when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 59-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ord since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
