Basketball Recap: Ricardo Oriol Key Part of Team Effort in Storm Win + How To Watch

Willow Spring hadn't done well against Green Level recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Storm walked away with a 64-54 win over the Gators. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Storm's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Gators are ranked 389th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Willow Spring to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ricardo Oriol, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 17 points. Oriol continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavion Terrell, who shot 54% from the field to rack up 16 points and three steals.

Willow Spring was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They racked up ten more assists than Green Level's also-impressive total of ten.

Despite the loss, Green Level still got an impressive performance from Andrew Schall, who went 6-for-14 en route to 23 points and four steals. Schall has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Garrett Midkiff was another key player, putting up four points and six boards.

Willow Spring is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points over those games. As for Green Level, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willow Spring will take on Jordan in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Storm's defense better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 55.1 points per game this season. Green Level and Green Hope will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gators will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
