Baseball Recap: Emmaus Takes a Loss

Emmaus fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Whitehall on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Zephyrs by a score of 6-5. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Zephyrs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jaden Betz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Logan Ravier was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Emmaus has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Whitehall, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Emmaus didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-8 loss against Allentown Central Catholic on the 23rd. As for Whitehall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-1 win against East Stroudsburg North on the 22nd.
