Laurel has gone 7-2 against Brookhaven recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Laurel is looking for their season's first victory.

Laurel is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Oak Grove last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Golden Tornadoes had to suffer through a 42-3 loss at the hands of the Warriors. The contest marked the Golden Tornadoes' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Brookhaven took on Northwest Rankin last Friday. The Panthers took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Laurel will need to focus on slowing down Jaden Allen, one of several Brookhaven players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 33 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 197 yards on only 13 passes. 131 of Allen's passing yards were hauled in by Timmothy Smith.

Brookhaven's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Laurel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Laurel skirted past Brookhaven 31-28 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Do the Golden Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
