The Eastern View Cyclones will square off against the Courtland Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Eastern View fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against King George last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Foxes by a score of 5-4. The loss was the Cyclones' first of the season.

Cailin Rendell spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sara Hopper and Jordan Werth stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hopper got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Werth went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That double was Hopper's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Souliyadeth, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Makayla Brooks was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Brooks was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Liz Gill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Maddie Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Courtland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Having lost for the first time this season, Eastern View fell to 4-1. As for Courtland, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.

Eastern View's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Cyclones have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Courtland, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Eastern View continue to outrun the ball?
