Volleyball Recap: St. Stephens Takes a Loss

St. Stephens had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Alexander Central Cougars, falling 3-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Indians' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Addison Granger paced St. Stephens' offense, picking up three kills. Granger got some help from Addison Smith and her five assists. Smith was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

As for Alexander Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Makayla Williams was the offensive standout of the match as she had five digs and three aces.

St. Stephens and Alexander Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Indians will face off against Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (250 vs. 514). Meanwhile, Alexander Central (ranked 38th) will meet McDowell (ranked 206th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
