Preview: New Hanover Wildcats vs. Myers Park Mustangs
After both having extra time off, the New Hanover Wildcats and the Myers Park Mustangs will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with New Hanover sitting on seven straight wins and Myers Park on eight.
New Hanover scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Friday. They really took it to South Brunswick for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-33 victory at home. Considering New Hanover has won four matches by more than 24 points this season, last Friday's blowout was nothing new.
New Hanover had a senior duo take command as Tamorie Wilson scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Iyana Rogers scored eight points along with seven assists and three steals. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Londyn Doughty, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Myers Park at home against Palisades two weeks ago as the squad secured a 67-39 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Myers Park has managed all season.
New Hanover pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Myers Park, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
