Football Recap: Chatham Cougars vs. Mount Olive Marauders
Chatham was the 31-6 winner over Mount Olive when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marauders on Friday. The Cougars were up 28-14 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Hogan, who threw for 269 yards and three TDs. Michael MacAniff was Hogan's top target, picking up 36 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Leading Mount Olive to victory were Brayden Longo and Frank Gallo. Longo rushed for 73 yards and one score on only six carries, while Gallo rushed for 23 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave Gallo a new career-high in passing yards (65).
Having lost for the first time this season, Chatham fell to 2-1. As for Mount Olive, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.
