Basketball Game Preview: Latta Vikings vs. Dillon Wildcats

Latta hasn't had much luck against Dillon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will welcome the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, it was close, but Latta sidestepped East Clarendon for a 33-31 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Latta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ke'Nyah Page, who posted four points and seven rebounds. What's more, Page also posted a 67% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Tisdale, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 boards.

Latta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Dillon blew past Carvers Bay, posting a 57-21 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Latta now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dillon, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Latta lost to Dillon at home by a decisive 69-51 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2019. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
