Volleyball Recap: Westminster Takes Down Ranked Mcintosh

Westminster faced McIntosh in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats won by a set and slipped past the Chiefs 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since August 16th.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Westminster who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 23-25, 15-13.

Toni Odujebe paced Westminster's offense, picking up 17 kills. Odujebe got some help from Munday Tyrone and her 23 assists. Finally, Blanchard Farr kept Westminster's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

The victory (which was Westminster's third in a row) raised their record to 17-7. As for McIntosh, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-6.

Westminster wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Harrison on the 6th. As for McIntosh, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Morrow at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Chiefs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
