Preview: John Carroll Catholic Rams vs. Master's Academy Patriots
John Carroll Catholic is 8-2 against Master's Academy since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, John Carroll Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 33-28 to Melbourne Central Catholic. John Carroll Catholic has not had much luck with Melbourne Central Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Master's Academy took a serious blow against Morningside Academy on Friday, falling 46-14. Master's Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-5.
Despite the defeat, Master's Academy had strong showings from Carissa Hennessey, who scored 6 points along with 13 rebounds and 6 steals, and Neesah Valentine, who scored 5 points along with 6 rebounds. Hennessey scored a full 42.9% of Master's Academy's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
John Carroll Catholic now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Master's Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
John Carroll Catholic beat Master's Academy 46-38 in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Will John Carroll Catholic repeat their success, or does Master's Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
