Baseball Recap: Waseca Takes a Loss

Waseca extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Belle Plaine Tigers. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Bluejays were not able to get on the board.

As for Belle Plaine, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5. That ten run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Belle Plaine's part, not much got past Logan Hoen, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Waseca off the board. Hoen also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Tigers are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Belle Plaine got a massive performance out of Luke Schultz, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Schultz has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Treyden Hiles, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waseca will face off against New Ulm at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Belle Plaine, they will take on Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
