Basketball Recap: Armorel Comes Up Short

Armorel lost against Rivercrest back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Armorel Tigers took a blow against the Rivercrest Colts, falling 58-14. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-11.

Destiny Burks was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 15 en route to 18 points in addition to seven assists and four steals for Rivercrest. Burks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Gonzalez, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Armorel has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Rivercrest, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

Armorel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-10 loss against Marked Tree on the 21st. Rivercrest has also already played their next game (against Barton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
