Soccer Recap: Benicia Comes Up Short

Benicia lost to Ygnacio Valley back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 5-1 to Wolves. While losing is never fun, Benicia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Ygnacio Valley are ranked 171st).

Benicia's goal came courtesy of Emanuel Hernandez, which was the first he's scored this season.

Benicia's defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6-2. As for Ygnacio Valley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Benicia is set to take on their familiar foe Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ygnacio Valley will square off against rival Berean Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
