Baseball Game Preview: Benton Rangers vs. Frankfort Redbirds

The Benton Rangers will square off against the Frankfort Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Benton and four for Frankfort.

On Friday, Benton came up short against Nashville and fell 8-3.

Peyton Robinson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Kyle Thomas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Frankfort also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to DuQuoin by a score of 5-2.

Benton's record is now 4-10. As for Frankfort, their record now sits at 1-7.

Benton couldn't quite finish off Frankfort when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
