Baseball Recap: North County Raiders vs. Festus Tigers
North County dropped their record down to 9-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 11-8 to the Festus Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 last Friday.
Zak Meador was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kyle Straughan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
As for Festus, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Festus' side, James Jackson tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Brady Nolen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Ijames, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Coincidentally, North County and Festus will both be playing Farmington the next time they take the field. The Raiders will host the Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
