Basketball Game Preview: Beardstown Tigers vs. Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Beardstown Tigers take on the Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Thursday, Beardstown had to suffer through a 63-33 loss at the hands of Central/Southeastern. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Panthers are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Cuba/Spoon River Valley came up short against PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central on Thursday, falling 53-31. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bluejays: they've now lost six in a row.

Beardstown's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Cuba/Spoon River Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Beardstown came up short against Cuba/Spoon River Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 58-49. Can Beardstown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
